What we need:

We are in search of skilled and passionate QA Engineer to be involved in government related projects. We’re looking for a multi-talented professional with a broad technical background and great leadership and communication skills.

The initial project will be providing software maintenance for the Joint Enterprise Network Manager (JENM) at SPAWAR’s Network Management Reference Implementation Laboratory. JENM provides network management of software-defined radios, including radio configurations and support for soldier, ground, and airborne systems. You will develop/maintain software for radio network management, network planning, distribution, and monitoring systems.

If you excel at working in tandem with developers to deliver quality software solutions, are proficient solving tough software and system integration challenges, and enjoy working with a QA team and acting as lead from time to time, we’d like to talk with you.   

What you will be responsible for:

  • Leverage your understanding of QA methodologies and best practices to design, build and execute unit, functional and integration test cases
  • Document quality assurance and test plans
  • Work closely with software developers and systems engineers to perform all levels of testing, as well as be an integral part of solving complex system level challenges
  • Write, implement, analyze and report test status for projects
  • Participate in the integration of structured Quality Management systems and procedures
  • Keep abreast of current and new technologies and tools related to your field

What is required to do the job:

  • Secret level security clearance required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering or a related field
  • 5 years’ Quality Assurance/test experience required
  • Previous experience with airplane systems or complex integrated systems testing preferred
  • Experience working with or knowledge of how network management products interface with these Software Defined Radios: AN/USC-61, AN/PRC-162, AN/PRC-154A, AN/PRC-155, AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-158
  • At least 1 year of experience of Test Engineering support using JENM and J-TNT.
  • Experience performing integration of applications into a J-TNT environment.
  • 1 year of experience in SDRs, SRW, SINCGARS, SATCOM, MUOS, and planning using JENM.
  • 1 year of experience testing software at system integration level.
  • 1 year of experience working on at least JENM version 3.3
  • Experience working with SKL.

Additional Experience that is Useful:

  • Ability to test without a UI leveraging the Linux command line and scripting languages Experience with toolsets, such as Chef, Vagrant, and Docker
  • Knowledge of Python, Ruby, bash or similar scripting languages
  • Strong experience with networking concepts 
  • AWS, Azure or similar Platform as a Service (PaaS) experience
  • Understanding of and experience with all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
