This position is for our Brea, CA office. Our headquarters are in downtown Bellevue, Washington.

What you will do: 

As a Business Development Manager (BDM) with Base2 you will lead a team of engineering SMEs, business leaders, and program managers to find and close new business, expand our customer base, and grow top-line revenue. We want someone who can learn quickly, see and take initiative, and is willing to pursue new customer opportunities.

Base2 is an engineering consulting company, and we expect that our BDMs can rapidly understand and reflect to our customers their technical challenges and our value proposition. As each customer’s challenge is unique, you are often required to work with the technical team to create a custom solution to address their needs.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Uncover and capture consulting engagements with new customers outside of our current lines of business and drive top-line revenue growth.
  • Work with a pursuit team to develop and cultivate opportunities over a lengthy, multi-stakeholder enterprise consulting sales cycle. 
  • Shepherd qualified opportunities from marketing lead through the business development funnel.
  • Craft and present our engineering solution and capabilities to Director and C-level executives.
  • Work closely with delivery teams to coordinate and draft proposals and SOWs. Deliver and negotiate SOWs and Proposals with the customer. Facilitate the negotiation of contract documents and contract awards.
  • Participate in lead-gen activities, such as marketing events and calls, with the goal of increasing company brand awareness through online campaigns and other leads nurturing activities, in order to establish and further develop relationships with potential clients.
  • Interact with client procurement departments and functions to ensure all barriers to closing are removed.
  • Engage in setting and meeting sales goals and producing forecasts in support of the overall business plan. Maintain sales information in a CRM system to participate in weekly pipeline discussions.
  • Develop professional relationships in order to grow new business by conducting in-person meetings and presentations with potential clients, senior level executives and networking contacts.
  • Provide superior customer engagement with the goal of sustaining Base2’s culture and reputation.

What we believe is required to do the job:

  • 5+ years in engineering services or consulting industry sales, delivery, or other applicable capacity
  • 3+ years of selling experience in consulting services with demonstrated and quantifiable results
  • Ability to develop new client relationships where no prior relationship exists; must be equally comfortable hunting and farming
  • An undergraduate degree in Business, MIS or related field is preferred
  • Genuine passion for relationship building and networking
  • Ability to efficiently resolve problems
  • Ability to accomplish multiple tasks
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
