What we need:

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Software Engineer to be involved in government related projects. We’re looking for a multi-talented professional with a broad technical background and great leadership and communication skills.

The initial project will be providing software maintenance for the Joint Enterprise Network Manager (JENM) at SPAWAR’s Network Management Reference Implementation Laboratory. JENM provides network management of software-defined radios, including radio configurations and support for soldier, ground, and airborne systems. You will develop/maintain software for radio network management, network planning, distribution, and monitoring systems.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Work in a secure facility in a collaborative team environment to support the design and technical delivery of enterprise-class software solutions which address the business problems and opportunities of our customers
  • Investigate and prototype solutions to address the intricate challenges of our customers, as well as recommend and influence the adoption of new technologies
  • Work directly with Architects, Project Managers, QA professionals and other talented team members
  • Design and document your technical solutions in a clear and concise manner
  • Mentor less experienced team members through pair programming, code reviews, informal technical training sessions, and your own best practices
  • Keep abreast of current and new technologies and tools related to your field

What is required to do the job:

  • Secret level security clearance required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Open Source development platforms required
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in designing and creating software applications, libraries, and APIs required
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated development experience with C++, Java and JS required
  • Strong understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts and design patterns
  • Working knowledge of all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, code reviews, integration, test, and release
  • Precise and efficient communication skills
  • Agile SCRUM experience
  • Experience with computer-based modeling and developing solutions to analyze and solve mathematical and scientific problems affecting system and program performance
  • Experience designing and implementing high performance related database systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Engineer or related scientific degree required

Additional Experience that is Useful 

  • Experience working with software defined radios and knowledge of how network management products interface with radios such as AN/USC-61, AN/PRC-154A, AN/PRC-155, AN/PRC-158, AN/PRC-117G, AN/PRC-162
  • Experience in SDRs, SRW, SINCGARS, SATCOM, MUOS, and planning using JENM
  • Familiar with unit and functional testing
  • GIT source control experience
  • Proficient in Linux
  • Experience providing engineering support using JENM
  • At least 1 year of experience working on JENM version 3.3 or later
  • Experience working with simple key loader (SKL)
