Our growing firm is expanding to the Phoenix metro area and we’re looking for an experienced and ambitious Director of Software to lead this new strategic location.

Our headquarters are in downtown Bellevue, Washington with additional offices in Brea, California and Phoenix, Arizona.

This position is for our Phoenix metro area location.

What you will do:

We are looking for an accomplished, engaged and dynamic software development leader to join Base2 to grow and lead a team of software consulting professionals engaged in complex consumer-oriented product development.

As our Software Director you will work to empower your teams to be successful by providing them with the leadership, direction and resources they need and by setting high expectations of what is to be achieved.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Grow and lead a group of teams comprised of software engineers and QA engineers
  • Help to establish best practices and focus on functional and technical excellence of the organization
  • Ensure superior team member and customer satisfaction
  • Provide strategic goals and direction for the organization
  • Mentor and support managers to achieve goals
  • Guide and participate in hiring, mentoring and career development of your team members
  • Directly support the accomplishment of practice and business financial objectives by participating in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management activities

What is required to do the job:

  • BS/BA from a 4-year college in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline required
  • At least 5 years of software supervisory management, with at least 3 years in a product development role, required
  • At least 10 years of senior software development experience required, with an emphasis on C++/Qt/QML preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership of Agile development teams required, with an emphasis on Large Scale Scrum preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to grow a high-performing development team required
  • Empathy for others, especially the team you will lead. This should include a desire to help others succeed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a strong aptitude for listening and gentle persuasion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically while also being able to listen, negotiate and drive consensus
  • Exceptional cross-group collaboration skills
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate strong attention to details
  • Ability to stay calm in face of adversity
  • Willingness to be comfortable with ambiguity, recognizing that collaborative problem solving with your team and other leads will help drive towards resolution
