What you will do: 

Base2 Systems Engineering consultants are experts in complex software and system development and/or technical program management. The nature of our systems engineering work and assignments vary depending on specific customer engagements; our immediate needs are in the areas of aerospace systems and medical device development, integration, verification and certification. The ideal candidate will have the ability and flexibility to perform in the areas of software architecture and design; software requirements analysis and management; technical program management, technical issue resolution, or product management. You will interface and coordinate directly with customers at all levels within an organization. The ability to collaborate and lead multidisciplinary teams is critical to success in Base2 client engagements.  Successful Base2 Systems Engineering consultants have a foundation in systems design and have extensive experience in the software product development life cycle.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Successfully participating in the development life-cycle for complex systems and software products including: analysis & planning; system design, software architecture and requirements definition; integration; validation & verification; and certification
  • Supporting a variety of associated systems and software development tasks:
    • Requirements analysis, definition, and management
    • Translating system specifications into software requirements
    • Software architecture development
    • Troubleshooting systems and software issues
    • Root-cause analysis and technical issue resolution
    • Technical project management
    • Alternatives analysis and trade-studies
    • Systems analysis, modeling, data flow, and interfaces
  • Clearly communicate project information with team members and managers
  • Presenting design reviews to program management
  • Coordinate and ensure alignment between system owners, software developers, and quality assurance
  • Support development of briefings and presentations related to a project
  • Participate in technical exchange meetings with other program engineers, other contractors, and customers
  • Support documenting case studies and white papers on projects for briefings to internal team members and potential clients

Basic Qualifications for this position:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related science degree
  • Minimum of 5 years working in an engineering capacity and experience working as a systems engineer, software architect, or in a specific systems engineering element (requirements analysis, specification development, architecture design, interface control, trade off analysis, risk analysis, verification and validation, etc.)
  • A working knowledge of the software development life-cycle as well as familiarity with Technical Project Management
  • Ability to write and manage software requirements
  • A design level understanding of information architecture and data modeling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, team leads, and customers
  • Ability to help define project direction, proactively identify and resolve low-level issues, and identify follow-on activities at a project level

What we believe is required to do the job:

  • Experience gained on projects using Open Source technologies such as Java, Python, JS frameworks for web and desktop application UI solutions
  • Prior software development/coding experience
  • Knowledge of the tools needed for the software development life cycle
  • Practitioner of Agile methodologies
  • Experience delivering projects to regulated industries such as medical devices or aerospace business areas and their associated regulatory requirements (ISO, IEC, FAA, FDA, etc.).
  • Proactive, organized, and self-starting
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new business, technical, and program skills quickly

This position is for our Bellevue location.
