What we need:

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Software Architect and hands-on Developer with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills to join our rapidly growing Bellevue office and help us lead large, complex projects. If you can interface with clients, understand and translate real business problems into elegant technology solutions, and execute in a fun, collaborative and dynamic team setting, then come and apply your deep understanding of enterprise system design, application development, and integration architecture to help us push the boundaries of the technology domain.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the detailed design of applications and services architecture for a large development program. Drive towards an architecture that optimizes flexibility, re-use, scalability, performance and availability. Evangelize the architecture across multiple sub-projects.
  • Interact with multiple suppliers and internal teams to negotiate and define systems interfaces and boundaries across diverse technology stacks in the OS, network, security and application layers.
  • Investigate and rapidly prototype technologies and solutions with the goals of determining the most appropriate approach and laying out a pattern for others to follow. Recommend and influence the adoption of new and emergent technologies.
  • Work in a collaborative, team environment with other architects, developers, testers, business analysts, project managers, and UX professionals in the delivery of the solution.
  • Validate systems and application level requirements. Review and verify functional, systems and integration test procedures to ensure complete requirements coverage.
  • Mentor junior team members through pair programming, code reviews, informal technical training sessions, and your own best practices.

What is required to do the job:

  • CS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of software development experience on various development platforms, with at least 5 years of exposure on a wide range of open source technologies.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in architecture and technical strategy
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to communicate highly complex architectural and technical concepts to less technical people
  • Demonstrated management skills, including the ability to lead a software development team
  • Strong background in consultative, strategic and collaborative approaches to technology delivery that helps move businesses forward
  • Deep technical understanding of complex, high performance, multi-tier customer facing web applications, services applications and Linux OS implementations
  • Background in object oriented design, modular system and component development, and functional programming
  • Strong domain knowledge in applications, services and systems architecture
  • Good understanding of information architecture and data modeling
  • Experience with Open Source technologies including Java, Python, and.NET, as well as other JS frameworks for web and desktop application UI solutions
  • Experience with enterprise application server frameworks
  • Modern data management strategies, such as ORM and NoSQL
  • Experience with SCM and build processes tools
  • Experience with Virtualization technologies such as VMware and Docker
  • Fluency with crafting UML or other Architecture description diagrams, including Use Case diagrams and other modeling techniques
  • High degree of comfort with all aspects of the software development life cycle, including Agile delivery methodologies
  • Comfort working in our offices or the offices of our clients, as needed
